  • 1.  How do I share a view?

    I've created a view of the specific work I'm interested in by clicking the plus sign under the house icon. Now I want to share that view with other people in my organization. How do I do that? I tried copying the URL from my browser and sending it to someone but they get a 404 error.

    Hi Paul!  Great question!

    Only subscription or workspace admins have the ability to share views.  So, if you don't see the "Share View" checkbox enabled on your Custom View editor, you might need to contact your workspace or subscription admin.  Either they can modify your user permissions, or create the shared view(s) themselves.

    Is there no way to do quick ad hoc colaboration? We're a huge company with many different teams all using Rally to work on a myriad of different projects. It isn't really scalable to have everything done globally by the admins.

    If it's not currently possible I'd really like to turn this into a feature request. We can't really be agile if a small ad hoc team can't slice and dice the info in Rally without channelling requests up to the faceless bureacracy.

    Paul, unfortunately there is not yet a great way to share a view for non-admin users.  The 2nd best way is to have other folks create the same page and add the same apps, but again that's not great. 

    I do think it's a great idea, and encourage you to post the feature request (idea) on Rally Ideas (http://ideas.rallydev.com)!  I did actually find something similar, you might vote on this and share with colleagues to garner more votes:

    Hi,

    as a workspace admin, can I share a view only across several projects and not
    across the entire workspace?

    Hello John,

    I can only see an option to share custom page with specific projects. The custom view seems to get shared across teh workspace.

    A project administrator can share a custom page across the same projects he or she administers.
