So I'm past the 14.0 z/OS install and am searching for the latest CA SRM windows client.  found the link below.  not sure where I found it.  Its not in the cover letter for 14.0.  I can't find it on the support site.  doesn't mean its not there.  What's the best way to find this link (especially when it moves in the future)?

CA Vantage Storage Resource Manager Detailed Service Pack Information for Windows - CA Technologies

for r12.7 must I install the base and all patches and SP levels above it or can I just download and install the latest sp2 build871 plus the latest hipers?  I reviewed the readmes on the base and didn't see anything about how to install.

I'm sure if you work with these web pages and links it all makes sense but for me who comes to CA periodically with many months in between I find the website slow and difficult to use and time consuming to find what I need.  My 2 cents.

Also your product page references 12.6 bookshelf but nothing about the 14.0 documentation.

I found in the migration doc "Host setup for current customers" in "upgrade PC software" section.  Step 5 says select "CA vantage SRM detailed service pack information index" link.  That's not there but "CA Vantage Storage Resource Manager Maintenance Grid Index" is and under that there is a windows client link which is the one pasted above.  I think that answers the 1st question.  I guess the doc should be updated accordingly but I should be set for this question.

To answer the second question: what you should install with regards to the Windows Client 12.7.

First you need to install the base for SP2 Build 871. Once the base is installed, you can install the Patch 2 since it contains already the fixes for the Patch 1.

When upgrading the Windows Client to a newer version, don't forget to make a backup of the C:\BrightStor SRM Data folder.

The reason why the product page doesn't display the r14.0 documentation is because it is not yet the official release. It is GA and is supported, but its status is still "Incremental Release". You can find all of CA's documentation at docops.ca.com. Besides that, I'd say that 99% of the current customers are still running r12.6 or earlier. Very few customers are running r14.0

For the client I was at patch 1 build758.  I had to install SP1 build793, patch 2, 3, 4 then SP2 build871 patch 1 and 2.  This is excessive.  You need to roll up your patches.

    Why aren't SPs rolled up?

I am surprise on what you did here.

You should normally have done only this to upgrade:

    Install 12.7 SP1 BUILD 793 [B793], then 12.7 SP2 BUILD 871 [B871] and finaly 12.7 SP2 PATCH 2 nothing else.

SPs are rolled up but here we have had new features requiring a new base creation. This Gui version is also used for the R14.0 and this is covered by the last SP2 Patch 2.

This should no longer be the case and we should have now a normal roll up.
