We are often seeing IDM server log files getting larger and consuming disk space. We were not able to open the logs due to their large size. Is there any other way (files other than server logs) to check for errors and find the root cause of the issue.

Please check if you can use '..\CA\Identity Manager\Provisioning Server\bin>analyzelog.exe' utility present with Provisioning Server. It provides various options for analyzing etatrans log.

This looks like the one to read im_ps.log but I need something for jboss server logs (application).
Is there a similar utility.
No I don't think separate utility is present for app server log. With IM's logging.jsp, logging level can be changed and the third party 'baretail.exe' utility can be leveraged after that.

You should change log rotation to size rotater and limit log size.
Identity Manager doesn't manage the logs generated by the application server. In your case, you should refer to the JBoss documentation for log management:
