I would like a bit of clarification on your question. CA Endevor under MVS uses VSAM files to maintain information about elements and packages. Is that what you want ? The distributed change management solution, Harvest, does use a database, but is it not on the mainframe.

    Hi,

As far as I understood, there is no DB for Endevor (e.g. SQL, Oracle) as it is based on MF. If this is the case, I am okay with that. If this is not, I would like to understand which DB is Endevor used.

Another question would be whether there is an option to import data to Excel, XML or any external source.

    Thanks,

    Shai

    Hello shai74,

As Craig stated in his reply, Endevor does not make use of a database store data.

As for importing Data to EXCEL, Endevor has the Comma Separated Utility (CSV).  This is explained in the Endevor Utilities Guide Chapter 13.

There is also a tech doc written on how to use the CSV UTILITY - TEC616102.  The URL for it is:

    Hi Shai

Now that you Know that ENDEVOR Databases are primarily VSAM Files (Master Control Files  / Package Master File) and information in accessed through the ENDEVOR utilities, what you think in term of "SQL Query" in Endevor it is more like a "SCL" Software Control Language. It is used to execute actions and / or extract information

II you wish to explore and deepen in the generation of information, here are two links to "SCL Reference Guide": SCL Reference Guide Version 16.0.00

and   "Reports Guides": Reports Guide Version 16.0.00

If you take a look to the utility reference by Thomas Tim, there is a sentence of SCL "to run". You can do many things knowing the SCL details and Endevor utilities.

    Good luck
