    Thanx for this...

I was having the same issue on a new cluster that I had set up. Copying the elements from the collector ws-plugins to the MoM's and restarting the MoM allows me to access the Workstation...

Well, when I tested the above it was from a workstation installed on one of the collectors if the cluster but I still cannot WebStart the Workstation from my desktop. Since I thought this workstation issue was fixed, I upgraded one of my other cluster from 10.0.0.12 to the 10.1.0.15 version. My WebStart would not start on the upgraded so went back to the original cluster that I created with 10.1.0.15 and now I find that I cannot WebStart that one either.

The WebView in both of these clusters works fine.

Any ideas? This makes it so that I cannot upgrade my other 3 main clusters....

    Hi Steve,

Sounds like a separate problem related to java webstart.

Have you ever been successful with webstart post upgrade?

    Please try this:

    1. Clear browser cache

    2. Using "Configure Java program" (JAVA_HOME\javacpl.exe) on your desktop.

    a. Clear the java cache using: General tab/Temp Internet Files/Settings/Delete Files (delete all 3 file type).

Also backup & delete %APPDATA%\Wily folder if not already deleted.

    b. Restore Security prompts & set High security level using: Security tab

    3. Stop MOM, backup/delete the EM_HOME/work directory & restart MOM.

    4. Retest

    Hope it helps

    Lynn

    Hi Steve,

I could not find any reports of that exact NPE for "sun.net.www.protocol.http.HttpURLConnection.plainConnect0" in our problem database but I did find this report of similar webstart symptoms with Java 1.8 u45: https://bugs.openjdk.java.net/browse/JDK-8078187

If you are using u45 can you try updating to later version. I am using u66 without problems.

If no help support case is the best way to go for more detailed RCA.

Happy New year to you too!

    Regards,

    Lynn
