What GSM Modem/Mobile for smsgtw to use?

Hi!

 

We are looking for a GSM Device for sending our SMS-Alarms, what are you using?

Our Telecom-Guy denied to use a "dinosaur" (as the called it) like a Nokia 6310 or something like that.

So any small clue or hint is appriciated.

We bought what was (at the time) the Nimsoft reccommended solution - a Multitech serial port GSM modem device. I can't remember the model number I'm afraid. But it has worked reliably for the last few years

thanks a lot, had a little talk with Ryan from Nimsoft Support today, asked him about and seconds later got the hint for the Multitech device. Good to hear that the device makes no trouble.

Hi there, we have purchased and sucsessfully installed a MultiTech MultiModem® GPRS MTCBA-G-U Series.

 

However during my research I found the following.

 

This is list of Modems that are supported out of the box by the Nimsoft SMS Gateway Probe:

Nokia Card Phone 1.0

Nokia Communicator 9000

Nokia Communicator 9110

The above list is quite old but basically any GPRS enabled Modem that can be attached to the NMS server should work, the modem must appear as a COM: port to the server and must support following the Standard AT Short Message Command set.

We bought "MultiTech MTCBA-G-F4-ED-EU"

Perhaps you need an other one, besed on the GSM-Network in your Country, that one is for the German GSM-Network

Hi, I have multitech multimodem GPRS MTCBS-G-U-F4

 

I have installed & configured it and it works for sending sms from smsgtw probe. but the problem here, i can't send the alarm at all even i have setting the nas for the sms. could anyone help me for my situation ?

 

nb : i am using nas probe ver 3.54 and smsgtw probe 2.14

Hi thank you for your respond kruepke,

 

i attached some picture for how did i configure the nas and smsgtw probe.

 

Nb: if you see sms gtw 2.PNG picture, you will notice that GSM indicator sometimes green colour sometimes is red. i don't know what is wrong with it.

You are sure, that the GSM-Modem has always a connect to th eGSM-Network ?

 

AT+CSQ delivers something greater 11 (If I remember right, 1-11 is too low for sending) ?

Not sure if this is the reason, but I noticed in your screenshot of the alarm list there were no matching alarms. The AO profile only matches alarms that are assigned to administrator, but none of the listed alarms are assigned. So none of those alarms should have been sent to the smsgtw probe, but maybe you had others that did match the profile in your testing.
