  • 1.  Upgrade to 9.5.5 APM Agent problem

    Hi,

I upgraded my Wily Agent files from version 8.0.1.0 to version 9.5.5 on a JBoss4.0.2 Linux server and I am seeing the following errors throughout the application "boot.log" log file:

    7/22/14 08:52:29 PM GMT [INFO] [IntroscopeAgent.Agent] Agent Release 9.5.5.0 (Build 955049)

7/22/14 08:52:29 PM GMT [ERROR] [IntroscopeAgent] A problem occurred while transforming org.apache.log4j.helpers.QuietWriter

    .

    .

    .

20:52:29,240 INFO  [Server] Root Deployment Filename: jboss-service.xml

7/22/14 08:52:29 PM GMT [ERROR] [IntroscopeAgent] A problem occurred while transforming org.jboss.util.StopWatch

7/22/14 08:52:29 PM GMT [ERROR] [IntroscopeAgent] A problem occurred while transforming org.jboss.util.StopWatch$1

7/22/14 08:52:29 PM GMT [ERROR] [IntroscopeAgent] A problem occurred while transforming org.jboss.util.StopWatch$Wrapper

    .

    .

    .

7/22/14 08:52:29 PM GMT [ERROR] [IntroscopeAgent] A problem occurred while transforming org.jboss.util.platform.Java

7/22/14 08:52:29 PM GMT [ERROR] [IntroscopeAgent] A problem occurred while transforming org.jboss.util.ThrowableHandler

I replaced the "AutoProbeConnector.jar" file used by the 9.5.5 Agent with the one used by the 8.0.1.0 Agent with no change in symptoms.  I'm not sure what the problem may be as these same 9.5.5 agent files work fine with other JBoss applications.

    Thanks you,

I found a few similar reports of this behaviour including one with JBoss 4.x/JDK 1.5 and a 9.0.8 agent. Please try this to see if has any effect:

In agent profile disable dynamic instrumentation by changing this property to false & then restart the JBoss instance:

    introscope.agent.remoteagentdynamicinstrumentation.enabled

    Lynn,

I'm working with Jon directly since I architected their new infrastructure. We did not do the agent upgrades when I was there. I will work on getting this resolved.

    Hiko,

Please confirm the JDK vendor\version used for this appserver and why AutoprobeConnector method is being used.

If it's a 1.5 or higher JVM, -javaagent should be used and if it's 1.4 then we don't support it with 9.x Agents.

They're still on JDK 1.4.2 unfortunately.

Ok in that case they will not be able to deploy 9.x Agent and have to use 8.x agents.
