  • 1.  Does the V16 Eclipse plugin support version control

I've had a look through the Eclipse UI help manual and I can't see any reference to the plugin supporting version control.

It says words to the effect of you can stick this specific version

    com.ca.endevor_16.0.1.20130916141836.bin.dist.zip on a server.

What I am concerned about is if I have thousands of installs - I've got no control over versioning (as I have on the mainframe under ISPF).

Plugin version support would mean when eclipse was started with this plugin there would be an immediate version check an an upgrade path forced.

    Can anyone comment on this?

    Hi,

This is my impression whilst running the web server and applying maintenance to the FMID that is the Eclipse UI.

If you put the zip file in to the directory /tomcat/webapps/Eclipse-BasedUI/bin in ZFS the Tomcat server will effectively publish this.

Your eclipse based IDE will need to have the 'Check for updates at startup' option enforced and it would get the latest distributed file from the Tomcat.
