  • 1.  IBM-DS4K Probe

    Hi

     

    Does anyone use the ibm-ds4k probe?

    It needs a SMI-S Provider installation which communicate with the storage devices.

    The online help of IBM pointed to "Engenio LSI ESG SMI-S Provider" of which I downloaded version 10.50.30.04.

     

    From time to time that software seem to stop working correctly, the data it returns from the storage is not up to date.

     

    My questions are:

    - Does anyone use this probe?

    - Which provided are you using?

    - Do you experience any problems?

    Update:

     

    IBM now recommends to install a newer version of the SMI-S provided, which I did now.

    How is it working for you now? I have seen this probe giving QoS that was off by several degree of magnintide. Ie Multi GB arrays being reported as Multi TB. and I think IOPS values that would be new world records.

    Currently it is working fine, but I need to wait until something happens on the storage, to see if it is reported correctly.

     

    About the wrong data, we had an issue with the regional settings. 

    The probe expects US english. 

    As workaround I changed the setting on the server. It should be corrected in the next release.
