Endevor

    It took me 5 months to do this for one of our customers. It was/is a very small site:

    • only a handful of developers
    • not a large amount of elements to migrate (<1500)
    • not a large amount of processing (some PL/1 with IMS and Db2, Cobol with Db2, Assembler and Jobs/procs with JobScan)
    • 8 types all together (11 processor groups)
    • no exits (at the time)

    Only complicating factor was: customer is US based and I am working from the Netherlands (and my oldest son was born ).

    I've worked with a customer and managed a complete conversion in just six weeks - so it probably depends on the complexity of the site and the number of processors you need to implement.  It's definitely a lot faster if you already use and are familiar with Endevor and you're just migrating into a pre-existing structure-  you already know the answer to questions like what does the life-cycle look like, what is the naming convention for base/delta/output libraries etc.

    That said - two areas that are special for both Librarian and Panvalet users are;

    • If any long (10 character) names are used (and why)
    • SUBSYS=LAM or SUBSYS=PAM are used for direct access to the Librarian/Panvalet members

    If either of these apply to you, then you will need to allow extra time in your conversion to find appropriate replacements.

    Let me know if you'd like to spend more time on the phone or webEx to chat about some of the options.

    Thanks very much for your response - this is helpful.  Personally, I don't

    have any further questions, but if you are willing, I'm sure the Project

    lead would.

    Thanks,

    Chris

    I can only echo what has been stated above.  Depending on the complexity of your current environment, the amount of code involved and the desired final life-cycle this can be accomplished fairly quickly.  There are plenty of poeple out there who would certainly be able to assist you.
