    Hi all,

I need to setup a Geo redundant IM2.0 Environment. So I have two complete Environments. Now I have some questions which might some of you are able to answer.

How can I assure that changes in CAPC on the Main Location are replicated to the Backup Location?

How can I assure that changes in DR on the Main Location are replicated to the Backup Location?

How can I setup a failover mechanism?

    Any ideas/hints?

    thanks and best regards,

    Steve

    Hello Steve,

Unfortunately at this time there is no supported method of fail over or Disaster Recovery for the Infrastructure Manager product suite including the Data Aggregator, Data Repository, Data Collector and CA Performance Center servers.

It is something on the mind of the Product Management team but when it will be added to a future release is unknown at this time.

For the data in the systems it is best to ensure both the Data Repository Vertica database and the netqosportal and em MySql databases are backed up successfully on a regular basis. As always be sure they are stored in a safe location. With that set aside it makes rebuilding the systems in the event of unrecoverable catastrophic failure much much easier.

Linux VM machines could also have snapshots set aside if possible for easy system resets.

Sorry for the negative answer, but hopefully that answers your questions posed here.

    Thanks,

    Michael

    Hi Mike,

thanks for the answer. Not really what I wanted to hear but now I know I need to take care of myself... But would be great to hear if there're some news regarding this problem.

So maybe do you have an idea how I can synchronize 2 CAPCs regarding User, Roles, Dashboards and stuff?

    Hello Steve,

Product Management are best able to answer what news there is regarding changes to support for DR/failover in the IM software suite.

While its not been tested, I suppose saving/loading the netqosportal and em MySql DBs from one CAPC host to another might do the trick.

But once its started it will try to communicate with the same Data Sources as the original host and you may see issues. Keep in mind this isn't a tested activity so no idea what results you'll see trying to do that.

    Thanks,

    Mike

    Hi Michael,

I'll first try to do mysql export for netqosportal and find the data Sources. Then I'll change the Data Sources to the right ones and import it... I'll let you know...
