Is that 20,000 in total or on each landscape? We have had 6000 on one before with no issues at all. I don't know the theoretical maximums for ping, however I would suggest if they are devices that can do SNMP you make sure they don't send traps to you, as you will help lower the load. that's the only time we noticed it caused any performance issues to us. Sorry I can't give you a definitive answer
