Plex 2E

I got a support call from a vision impair user of an application generated with Plex 4.5. They said that some PC tech had worked out some settings that made the application much easier to use. The settings were lost when the PC was replaced. The tech is gone. The user said the application colors change from white to grey and everything was magnified to about 200%.  I can find anything in the INI settings to control color scheme or magnification.  Can anyone think of any run-time settings that would improve viewability of a Plex generated application?  Lou Kurrelmeyer

Hi LouJust the obvious...That PC have matched similar settings than the previous one for picture resolution? Change in appearance is usual for monitors with less resolution.I would say that both issues need to be solved at Windows level (same for color palette, especially if Plex panels were defined with system colors)  Good night, Lou!

Hi Jorge,  I hope you are doing well.  Your answer is the one I started with. I had the user change some settings at the Windows level. They claimed they did not have to do that the other time this problem was solved. Problem is, they can't see stuff until it gets to a certain size. Very hard to try certain things with them.  I am trying to contact as many people as I can to see if anyone knows of an additional solution.  The user does not want to change their Windows settings. They have already adjusted those to see a number of other things. If we make changes there, they may not be able to see other stuff. I wish I could get my hands on the PC, but it is in a veru secure location.  Lou

Lou,Have you tried PowerWhell scripts? I have used it for the Exchange Server, and it looks powerful, as long as some case adjust to your needs. It is a scripting system, able to control almost any aspect of the Windows OS. However, I have found some issues on compatibility or release level. It is wide on scope, and more complex, but there are a large users community.  Some links on it:At Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PowerShellScript Center at Microsoft: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/scriptcenter/dd742419.aspxSome case using WMI: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa394591%28v=VS.85%29.aspxEn general: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa394582%28v=VS.85%29.aspxAt Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/groups.php?id=684027459#!/group.php?gid=5901799452  Good Luck!

Hello Lou,  just some ideas to your problem:  - maybe the tech developed a .manifest file  for this application- there is a keyword scaling= in the [Windows options] section that might help incombination with large fonts  RegardsCarsten

Thanks  Carsten,  I don't think I can use a .manifest file. The applciation in question was built using Plex version 4.5a. I don't recall .manifest files being involved with that version of Plex.  I also found the scaling keyword. Do you know what it does/how to use it? I have tried it with both possible settings. I don't see a difference. This must work in conjunction with something else. What the "else" is, I don't know.  Regards,  Lou

Thanks Jorge.  Problem is the user does not want me to change their Windows settings. They insist some PC tech was able to customize the application.  Unless someone knows something nerither you  nor I know (doubtful), this user is going to have to be told they are mistaken.
