  • 1.  Execute an Application in CAWA 11.1

    Hi Everyone,
I am new in CAWA DE 11.1 and i have to create an application. I tried to get documentation about 11.1 version but i found only for 13.1.
I need to execute my app in order to get the results, I use the method describes in "CA Workload Automation DE Overview Guide 11.3" but didnt work because i didnt see my app in app monitor. Can anyone tell me which one is the right way to do this?

This is the step by step i am using..

    To trigger an Event manually
    1. Verify that that your Application is open in the Define perspective.
    2. Right-click the Event in the Applications Events view, and select Trigger from the pop-up menu.
    The Trigger Event dialog opens.
    3. Leave the Schedule criteria field blank.
The Event will be triggered immediately.
    4. Leave the Add new scheduled Event option button as selected.
The Event will run now in addition to its 4 p.m. schedule.
    5. Select the Submit Application on hold check box.
The Application will not run until it is manually released. In this tutorial, you are holding the Application before its jobs start to run so that you can view the different job states when you monitor the workload.
    6. Click OK to trigger the Event.

    Quick guess here.

Have you “Subscribed” to applications on the monitor side?
On the Application Monitor tab right click on the server you are connected to and do a “Subscribe All” . Then you will be able to see the applications waiting to run.

    Another quick guess here…..
Maybe you don’t have any workload scheduled for today in your application.

    1) Right click on the box in the top of the application(Event) and do a simulate.

    2) Hit enter for current day/time. Does it show that jobs will run?
This will show you what would run today if the event were triggered. If there is nothing scheduled, nothing will build and come into the monitor window when triggered.

I discovered the problem...it was a javascript in my app event. It doesnt recognize "length" javascript function. The error is:

[Fri Oct 11 14:41:47 CLT 2013] [Virtual] - Error executing job-level event trigger-time JavaScript for job ARD950_PROCESA_BLOQUEOS.VARIABLES. The error is: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: TypeError: Cannot read property "length" from undefined (<cybscope>#6)

    Why doesnt work this function?.

    Regards,
    Isaac

    Hi,

In CA Workload Automation DE , the 'length' function will work. However, in the javascript specified , I believe the error is thrown because of the FT value against which you are using length function in the application specified. Can you please check if this value is actually containing any value at all or not. I suspect the APPL._filename is not getting resolved. In order to confirm -

comment the FT.length , use the %FT in one of the jobs to confirm what the variable is resolving to.

%APPL._filename  is used when you need the name of the file monitored in a File Trigger Event.

Can you please specify if the event used is FileTrigger event and where exactly is the javascript used.

    Hope this helps

    Thanks and regards,

    Ravi Kiran
