I am getting similar issues from different clients. Both are using Spectrum 9.2.3.

From Client 1, the following 2 events keep creating and closing alarms at a rate of 10500 odd per minute. They keep recurring and the closest I can find in the manuals on this is the Interface Flapping rule, but it uses different Event codes (0x220002 - 8.

0x10d67 * Port CEPKDUND.###.co.za_Gi0/1 of type Gen_IF_Port has stopped responding to polls and/or external requests. An alarm will be generated.
0x10d66 * Port CEPKDUND.###.co.za_Gi0/1 of type Gen_IF_Port has started responding to polls and/or external requests.

From Client 2, I get the following events, also ports at a rate of over 2300 per minute.
The crazy thing is, this port has been Admin disabled by the network administrator, but these events keep coming.

0x10d12 * The link status of port (name - ZA-CPTRTR001.za.ema.###internal.com_Se0/0/3, type - Serial_IF_Port) is now "disabled".
0x10d2a * Inference handler has disasserted its link status alarms on Port model ( name - ZA-CPTRTR001.za.ema.###internal.com_Se0/0/3, type - Serial_IF_Port ).

In both areas, there are two separate ports from the same device giving the exact same events.

Is there a way to stop this? Anybody with any ideas?

I have a similar problem with Spectrum 9.2.2

event 10d2a happening rapid fire with Critical Alarm on a Gen_IF_Port then an immediate clear.

the event message I am getting is  "Inference handler has disasserted its link status alarms on port model xxxxxxx

Did you ever find a solution to your issue ?

I am going to open a case with CA - so I will follow up with you if I get a solution.

    Hi Kurt,

You can try disabling the port monitoring by following below steps

    Disabling the port monitoring

Right clicking on the selected interface and clicking on utilities

Attribute editor and filter for the below attributes and give the below

     values for the attributes.

      a. Make the IsEventCreationEnabled attribute to NO

     b. Disable Trap based events to YES

     c. Poll Port status to NO

     d. Alarm on Link Down Trap to NEVER

     e. Polling Status to NO

     f. Generate Port Status Alarm to NO

     g. Ok_to_poll to NO

    Regards

    Sunny

    Hi,

I have a similar issue, I want to disable GEN_IF_Port alarms, I'm running CA Spectrum 7.1, and I have alarms for ports that have gone down, and I want to remove those from the monitoring, I followed your instructions and I could locate:

    - Disable Trap based events to YES

    - Poll Port status to NO (2 attributes - Device and Port)

    - Alarm on Link Down Trap to NEVER

But I couldn't locate your other attributes. However, I am getting an error message when clicking on Apply changes:

    Success - Disable Trap-Based Events

Model Write Failed: The PollPortStatus attribute does not exist for the model for the Poll Port Status (Device)

Model Write Failed: The PollPortStatus attribute is locked by a user policy and cannot be written

I am trying to read more about this problem but if you can help would be great. Thanks for looking into this.

    Max,

This attributes need to be set on the interface models which needs to e pulled off from monitoring. Once this is done try configuring the attributes.

For the second error : Model Write Failed: The PollPortStatus attribute is locked by a user policy and cannot be written

It says that a policy from policy manager is binded to this model. Make sure you don't have any policy applied to the interface models on which you are setting the above attributes.
