    Afternoon All,

I have an issue with a new Spectroserver we have installed.

In the GUI, in the Administration menu => Landscapes.

I get the following error in the Parent Connection Status - Connection Lost (CIF Failure)

    I can do the following:

Telnet from Spectroserver to 1Click on 14001
Telnet from SPectroserver to MLS 56063
Traceroute from the Spectroserver to the MLS and the 1Click successfully
Ping the Spectroserver from both the MLS and the 1Click

Did you update Host security on MLS?

The new server is on both hostrc files, on the Spectroserver and on 1Click.

The error message currently is Local permission denied. Ensure the parent landscape is in the .hostrc file for the local landscape.

However, after a resync with master I get the same message as before.

Are you updating the host security using SCP or directly editing the file? - I have seen situation where when the file is modified using an word editor Spectrum (location service) sometimes does not pick it. It is safe to do it using SCP.

I would try starting with no host security - from SCP - remove all SS machine names and add plus '+' sign.
see if your communication starts happening.

also verify on the distributed SS, in $SPECROOT/LS/.locrc file that the value of MAIN_LOCATION_HOST_NAME, is same as the MLS server.

Typically the cif error is related to network issue or latency. Are there any network troubles?

I had a similar problem and on my new servers, once i edited the .locrc and .hostrc, I 'Initiated to Legacy DB' and after that it worked for me. It's almost like this forced the 'spectrum' user from the MLS to be copied onto the new server, and then all was ok.

    Afternoon All,

After following the above advice from the posts which wasnt successful.

We found that opening port, 48879 solved the issue for us.
