Hi,

 

Is it possible to add an instance into the HA configuration after it has been created? Or do I need to recreate the instance and set HA at that time?

You can give it a try by making changes in the role designator section of CONFIG.INSTANCE file name, but before doing that please take a backup of the original config.INSTANCE file and you will need to gracefully shutdown and start the AE server.

You can install the Shadow and/or TieBreaker depending on your HA setup (Dual ES etc) and then modify or let the installer update the RoleDesignator value in the config file for the new servers.

You can configure this architecture afterwards.

 

In HADS mode ( Dual Server) the following attributes have to be checked on the 3 machines ( Primary Scheduler, Shadow scheduler and tie-breaker scheduler):

EventServer_1=<SID1>,1521,host1
EventServer_2=<SID2>,1521,host2

DBEventReconnect=50,5

RoleDesignator=

PrimaryFailbackMode=

 

autobcp will have to be done between Primary database and the New database
