  • 1.  Click to Approve

    Posted Mar 27, 2014 03:41 PM

We have a need to provide the ability for a user to click to "approve" a workflow item, as part of the message being sent from CASDM requesting approval.

We would literally like to offer the options for each type of workflow message as separate links.  If not that, perhaps even opening the correct workflow item in Edit mode?

    Thanks.

    Hi All,

Anyone have a suggestion here for Sam?

    Thanks!

    Hi Sam,

Just a couple of questions for clarification as your query is not that clear to me...

    1. By "user" are you refering to any user regardless of the Access Type\Role (Employee, Analyst, ect...) to be able to approve workflow

    2. Are you using Classic Workflow, CA Wokflow or ITPAM?

    3. Are you trying to enable email approvals?

    Kind Regards,

    Brian

This is the “toughest” question to answer – potentially it could be any Role, though we limit approval to edit workflow status based on being either the assignee or in the group.

    2. Are you using Classic Workflow, CA Workflow or ITPAM?
    Classic (linear) workflow

    3. Are you trying to enable email approvals?
It turns out this would be the “best” option, as sometimes approvers are “off-network” (not on our Intranet – CASDM is totally internal in our organization).

Unfortunately with Classic workflow, this cannot be achieved. Not all users can have access to Classic Workflow. Only Analysts that have access to Change Order records can use Classic Workflow. The best way to meet your requirement in its entirety would be to use ITPAM.

    In that case…

    Hi Brian,

I think this a good topic for a Community WebEx. A lot of users are always struggling with this type of situation when the approvers are not accessible to the corporate network or are not analyst. I would like to see best practices of PAM trying to achieve this can of situations (PAM Task List, Email approvals, etc). The mobile app for SDM could be part of the solution, but personally I think this app need to be a little more flexible to modifications since most of the SDM shops are personalized to corporate needs.

I was in a conference meeting a few weeks ago with PAM consultant and his recommendation was to always keep end users outside of PAM, trying to keep these user approvals in Service Catalog or SDM.

    Regards,

    Jose
