A customer has their application and agents on Amazon Webservices. Has anyone tried to connect an agent on AWS to EM on customer's own network thru HTTPS tunneling for security purposes? Thanks!
Francis
Yes, I’ve done this in the past, it should work just fine.
Were currently in the process of setting this up also.
Our setup will be agents in the cloud communicating via https tunnel to F5 which is load balanced to two collectors.
My question is our provider has given us two external facing VIPs is there an agent config that says if VIP 1 is unavailable , use VIP 2 ? And does the same config work on both Java and epagents ?
Sure, just define 2 EMs in your Agent Configurations:
introscope.agent.enterprisemanager.connectionorder=PRIMARY,SECONDARY
works for both Java and EPAgents.
Hi Florian,
Just coming back to this ..
How did you configure the agent subnet range or source IP from AWS to internal APM - i assume you didn't open the AWS range of IP's to Your internal network.
did you use NAT with an attributed elastic IP as documented here ? or another method ?

Cheers.
Hi Andy,
I must have misunderstood.
In my case, the Agents were running on-Premise in my LAN, and the EM was running on EC2.
Regs,
Florian.
Appreciate all the replies!
Hi,
I would like to know more info on monitoring applications deployed in Amazon cloud. Do we have any documentation in place?
Thanks,
Karthik
What are you looking for exactly?
The Agent connection scheme is documented here:
HTTPS: https://support.ca.com/cadocs/0/CA%20Application%20Performance%20Management%209%206-ENU/Bookshelf_Files/HTML/APM--Java%20Agent%20Implementation%20Guide/index.htm
Additionally if you need to use a proxy server:
https://support.ca.com/cadocs/0/CA%20Application%20Performance%20Management%209%206-ENU/Bookshelf_Files/HTML/APM--Java%20Agent%20Implementation%20Guide/index.htm
Cheers,
Two questions.
1. How to monitor applications deployed in Amazon cloud? Do we have any documentation links for any specific configurations to monitor apps deployed in cloud?
2. Can we put APM(Enterprise manager) in cloud? If we can do, can we set up a cluster(MOM and collectors)?
1) Are you using EC2 VMs? If you are, then the Agent install is exactly the same as on a traditional server.
2) Yes you can install an EM environment in EC2.
But I can see in documentation that only standalone EM can be installed in EC2. Can I also setup a cluster in EC2? I don't see much information on this in documentation
Do we have any documentation on installing APM(EM-cluster) in cloud or amazon EC2?
