    To my fellow Clarity specialists...

Our organization has been experiencing an incident for months and we have been unable to resolve the issue with CA support.

    The root cause is unknown.

Nightly, around 1:30am, our websphere services perform an auto recycle. On some occasions one of our two clustered servers will be hit by a problem that adds %20 in the GUI anywhere a space is between two words. For example, at the login screen you'll see the following:

    en - user%20name:
    Password:

If you login to Clarity, you end up seeing %20's in MANY different text areas.

Normally, this was impacting one specific server but today it began impacting an alternate slustered server so I don't think the problem is server specific.

Does anyone have a clue as to what is happening? I can attach my websphere system out log if it helps.

I do end up seeing %20 referenced errrors in the app-niku log but after it's too late. I only see them when a user logs in and experiences the issue.

    THANK YOU!

I've seen this before (on Apache Tomcat, so I don't think it is related to the web server type) and we think it is related to the start up order and accessibility to certain system/data resources on startup. My current theory is that changing the start up order may solve this.

If you are starting the APP service before the NSA, try starting the NSA and if you can add a pause in your script, pause it for a few seconds. Then load up the APP service.

If that doesn't resolve the problem, you might try adding the warmup command after you start the app as a test to see if it improves things. (i.e. add the following command to the end of the startup script)

    nikuadmin warmup

The warmup will fire off some standard requests to the server.

    Hello Thomas

You can try and restart the apps, and check if this resolves the issue.
If not, you might try restarting the entire box.

Thanks Shawn and NJ. This gives me some things to try or look into. Don't think I'll be recycling the server though.

FYI, we did end up downgrading our WebSphere environemnt back to 6.1.0.7 from 6.1.0.23 and have not seen the problem since.
