  • 1.  encrypting all NMS network traffic

    Hi Guys,

I came across this question last week and I had to do some research.  Not sure how many more of you have been asked about encryption not only from our HUB>HUB but also from Robot > HUB.  The new NMS 4.3 can do it and the procedure for enabling it on the HUB is described here(page 161):

My question is more regarding the Robots.  Are settings pushed down from HUB to Robot config?  this case sure seems to indicate so.

Also, how or where are certificates maintained if maintained at all?

The hub will indicate its SSL settings to the robot when it "checks in".  The robot will then retain this information and use it the next time it coldstarts/restarts.  The are no certificates, but the communication is SSL Encrypted.  The SSL Settings are configured in the hub UI,  Compatibility mode will allow SSL enabled and "old" robots to connect to the hub. While SSL only will require SSL enabled components only.
