  • 1.  How to create Release Roadmap in Rally (Release Roadmap - Feature based and Story based)

    Posted Oct 05, 2021 03:10 AM
I want to know is there a way I can create feature roadmap and then story roadmap may be depending on their start and end dates

The timeline view in rally gives that view but not that prefect.

Is there a way it can be created in rally.
I am new to rally, I have used jira extensively and there is a jira roadmap feature which can be used to portray this functionality.

How to create such thing in rally and how to integrate it with confluence for reporting?

    Hello Vidit,

I will outline the native Rally UI pages I recommend and successfully use for a Release Roadmap, and for visual management when it comes to a Story Roadmap view.

Release Roadmap = the Release Planning page.
    - Release Planning page is provides a good view for a Release Roadmap.
    - Assumptions: based on the lean-agile principles and practices of doing Just In Time (JIT) planning + assuming variability: preserving options; this page is keyed off the Preliminary Estimate on the Feature (lowest Portfolio Item Type) only. Portfolio Engineers/Mgrs and Program stakeholders can visualize a high-level Release Roadmap.

    Story Roadmap
    - I've never really had this type of question due to the data domain of Stories (how they are defined/schedule etc.). That said you could try the Release Tracking page which provides a robust board for Scrum of Scrums (SoS), visualizing the schedule for all Stories planned into a Release/Program Increment.
    - You can effectively manage and coordinate Feature cycle-time, Team or Story dependencies, forecast and track progress towards the Release/PI commitments (or scheduled work) in chart and grid view.

    RE: Confluence Integration
I actually need to test/experiment with integrating with Confluence. We have done this in the past and the main topics are authentication, scoping and ability to display either the reports or Apps. Yet that may require hosting some of the Apps on an external web server if Confluence does not display the HTML/CSS/JS natively.

I'm interested in discovering more about the specific Roadmap views you have in mind, so please share if you wish. Hopefully this is a helpful start to more dialogue or learning. BTW: Welcome to Rally!

Hi Chris, Thanks for the discussion on above subjects.

Basically, Release Planning page gives be list of features as per release as per the planning done.

I am interested in something wherein for each feature I will get the bar created as per start and end dates and I should be able to drop that feature down to see its stories and their dates also.

The Timeline view gives me that look to most extent but thought if there is any other way to have this view in rally or confluence that would be great.

Also this timeline view shows the bars as per planned start and end dates, what if I want to have one more version of timeline view or actual dates?

    Thanks,
