  • 1.  Java Agent for Apache Tomcat with OpenJDK

Using the Java agent for Apache Tomcat with OpenJDK, we are getting reports from an application group that Apache would not start without removing the javaagent  options for the Introscope Agent.  The application group mentioned they had modified the JAVA_HOME environment variable to reference the OpenJDK but Apache Tomat would not start.
Is there a list of what needs to be modified for the Java Agent to work specifically with OpenJDK?

    Hello Dane,
There's nothing specific for OpenJDK but it would help to know which agent version and which JDK version are being used, as it could be a compatibility issue, if you're going above Java 8, you would need to have the latest 20.2 agents or SaaS agents.

If you could share any particular error at startup, or possibly raise a support case with us where it would be useful to share what you've done to configure the agent and any Tomcat logs or error messages from the command-line.

    Many thanks,
    David Lewis

Just to reiterate what David said: there is nothing that should prevent Tomcat from starting other than compatibility and misconfiguration.

If this is still a problem, please post your environment configuration when posting (OS, App Server Version, Runtime Version, etc).
