Next generation of SAV for NAS technology released October 1st, 2012

On October 1st, Symantec have announced the launch of Protection Engine for NAS 7.0.  This software is the next generation of technology replacing the Symantec Antivirus for Network Attached Storage 5.2 product(aka SAV for NAS).  New features of Protection Engine for NAS 7.0 includes:

•   Next generation threat detection components                                                                                        

•   Advanced unscannable file handling                                                                                        

•   Integrates with Microsoft Active Directory authentication and authorization services for easy delegation of administration.                        

•   Latest platform support and enhanced performance

 

Existing Symantec Antivirus for NAS 5.2 customers with active maintenance are eligible to upgrade to Symantec Protection Engine for NAS 7.0.

New builds can be download from Symantec's FileConnect site with a valid serial number.

Hi,

We are currently using Scan Engine 5.2.11 to scan for file upload on our web server. We have purchase license and maintenance for Scan Engine up to Jan 2015. Now that Scan Engine will hit EOL by 2014, do we still entitle to definition update after EOL?

As for the API, how much code code change is required to make our web app compatible to with the new Protection Engine? We're using the .Net library from Symantec to forward the file to Scan Engine.
