Hello:

We are exploring Symantec DLP Network Discover's ability to leverage the web server scanner functionality in order to effectively discover where sensitive data is already stored in our Jira/Confluence environment.

Alternatively, we our considering looking into the possibility of scanning the database directly for said sensitive data.

Have others in this community found success using the web server scanner functionality in Network Discover or scanning the database directly?

Any/all help would be greatly welcomed!

P.S. -  would it be easier for us to just upgrade to v15.8 seeing that there are enhancements to the web server scanner functionality and related enforce GUI to make web server scanning more streamlined and intuitive?

I just found this article on this very topic:

Thanks!

Hi Tyler

You might find it just easier to upgrade to DLP 15.8.  As you have read in the blog, Web Server Scanner has been enhanced and will scan a wide range of web servers, so will support your need to scan Jira/Confluence.

All the documentation to support DLP 15.8 is located here:
https://techdocs.broadcom.com/us/en/symantec-security-software/information-security/data-loss-prevention/15-8.html

This includes information about the new features, the release notes and upgrade guides.

Warm regards
