VDDK 8.0.3.0 - drastic reduction in supported data movers on Windows and RHEL

    VDDK 8.0.2.1 supports data movers on Windows Server 2016, 2019, 2022. It also supports RHEL 7.9, multiple 8.x levels, and 9.0

    Beginning with VDDK 8.0.3.0, only Windows Server 2022 and RHEL 9.[1|2|3] are supported.

    I can understand dropping Windows 2016, RHEL 7.9, and early 8.x levels. But to not support at least Windows Server 2019 and RHEL 8.8 and 8.10 concerns me for these reasons:

    • Windows users can at least move to Windows Server 2022 before upgrading the VDDK
    • RHEL users using 8.0.2.1 have no direct upgrade path to VDDK 8.0.3.0

    Does anyone else (besides me) have strong concerns about this? (Not sure if Broadcom monitors or participates on these forums, but if they do, any insight would be appreciated.)

    Yes, we noticed this as well and also find it very concerning.
