Hi.

I can see that 2003 support level is deprecated and I am not asking about building new 2003 servers :-)

A customer has some old 2003 VMs running on ESX 6.5. The hardware is aging so we need to migrate (cold likely) these VMs to new servers running v7 or v8.

My questions are will they run? Is there VMware specific support for the VMs on the newer platforms? I will probably need to upgrade the Hardware Compatibility of the VMs - what is the maximum version (if any)? What about VM Tools?

They are currently running Tools build 11269 (11.0.5) and Hardware Compatibility v4 (ESX/ESXi 3.5 and later).

Any advice, gotchas and warnings also helpful thanks.
