In an article oddly "updated" to 2024 but speaking of Workstation 9 circa 2012, Broadcom indicated that Win8+ had the generic Microsoft xHCI drivers needed for USB 3.0, while WinXP/7 did not; therefore a Win7 guest would "not work with the VMware Virtual xHCI Controller."

That was apparently updated. In 2015, VMware (see Broadcom) said that Workstation Pro 12 offered USB 3.0 support for Intel controllers in Win7 VM guests, provided the user downloaded the USB 3.0 drivers for Win7 from Intel. But my 1 2 3 searches have turned up no such drivers.

On my Win11 Pro 24H2 x64 host, I am running VMware Workstation 17.6.2. Workstation is not seeing my USB 3.0 drives. How can I fix that?
