Where is the status of Fusion-related Windows driver updates published?

I'm new to using Fusion Professional Version 13.6.0 (24238079) to run Windows 11 64-bit Arm on a Mac M1.

I understand that Windows has not yet developed and released Arm-based printer drivers. I've had good success in installing Apple's Bonjour software to connect to my network printer, but I am having to use the generic PCL driver that is present in the Windows 11 Pro distribution. While it works, I am not able to get access to the printer-specific features of my Brother HL-L2395DW printer (specifically the duplex setting).

  • Has anyone a similar printer and found that there is a better voice of currently available generic driver for it?
  • If Windows does release Arm drivers for other printers, where would one find out about it?
  • As the noted printer also has scanner capability, I would also like to determine if it is possible to use it on the noted VM installation.

Fusion provides no drivers for Windows 11 ARM other than those provided through VMware Tools (which is video, network, or virtual mouse). You'll have to go to the printer vendor (or Microsoft) for printer driver support for Windows 11 ARM.

For network printers, I've had better luck with configuring printers when the VM's networking to Bridged rather than NAT ("Share with my Mac"). That allows it to discover the printer directly the printer without having to worry about the NAT gateway not propagating Bonjour across the NAT boundary..

When configured with Bridged networking, my Win 11 ARM VM finds the printers I have on my primary network. Those include a Brother HL-L5200DL printer that's discoverable by Windows. It will configure itself with the Microsoft IPP Class driver. That allows me to configure duplex settings as well as the paper size for the multipurpose tray.

I also have an Epson WF-2730 multifunction printer on the network and both the printer and scanner are discovered. Windows Scan (available from the Microsoft Store) seems to work with it out of the box.

I'm not sure if Epson or Brother have drivers that work natively on Windows 11 ARM, but the Microsoft-provided out of the box features work well for what I need them for.
