hello,

I am trying to convert a backup from acronis to vmware, but the source type options are not showing up for me, is it a configuration issue?

I am using VMware Converter 6.6.0

Hi Gustavo,

VMware Converter 6.6.0 doesn't support Acronis backup files directly as a source type that’s why you're not seeing the option. Converter only supports physical machines, powered-on/off VMs, and sometimes third-party images (like Symantec Ghost), but not .tib or .vhd backups from Acronis.

If you need to convert from Acronis, the usual workaround is:

  1. Restore the Acronis backup to a VM or physical machine.

  2. Then use VMware Converter to P2V that restored system.
