I have never seen a wierder issue than this one.
My server recently had issues and I had to move the stuff to a new one. I picked the same model of server, moved the old procs and ram to the new one along with the RAID card and also the hard drives. So basically still the same server....accept it isnt.
Whenever I make a new VM, the VM will loose connectivity with the rest of the network. I have an IP reservation on my router, so it always picks that IP. Problem is, it looses connectivity in such a way that I am able to ping any device on the whole network. But no device on the network, not even the router that handed this machine its IP, is able to see this computer. All devices trying to ping this problem vm is timed out. And the most important thing i need, RDP, also stops working. I cannot figure out what is going on...
It should be noted that under normal circumstances, esxi shows the IP address of the machine in the network information section. When this happens, the ip address of that section becomes "Unknown"
Any and all help is greatly appreciated
mmmm the new physical server has a different mac address on the physical nics. is it possible you have some static mac table on your network devices? just wondering
