Hi everyone,

I have a question regarding vSphere Lifecycle Management.

I have a standalone ESXi host which is running the VM for the vCenter that manages it. Is it possible to update the host using vLCM without being able to migrate or vMotion the vCenter-VM to another host? Thus, will vCenter be able to update the Host running itself with vLCM? I have read conflicting information about this online and none of the VMware / Broadcom documentation really seems to fit this scenario.

From what I understand, this isn't possible due to the shutdown of the VMs, including the vCenter VM, am I correct?

I am looking to use vLCM specifically because I require a vendor-specific image.

Thank you guys in advance.

You are correct. It's unfortunately not possible to remediate a host with powered on VMs.
