Same process but sometime vSwitch sometime Dswitch

Hello,
I am using a cluster with 3 ESXi hosts and vCenter version 7.0u2 within my company. I have been following the internally established process for over a year, and everything has been working fine. However, recently, after the installation is completed, we’ve noticed that once the Quickstart is passed, all hosts, VMs, and vCenter are moved to a distributed switch (dSwitch), and the previously existing vSwitch on each ESXi host is no longer used at all.

The VMs do not communicate with each other until I manually change their port group to dSwitch-VM Network. I haven’t changed anything — I’m still using the same version and the same license.

Why is it that sometimes the configuration ends with a standard vSwitch setup, including port groups like Management Network and VM Network, and other times with a distributed switch and its various dSwitch-.... port groups? I haven’t been able to determine at what point during the installation this behavior is decided.

The only time I see any mention of a dSwitch is during the Quickstart phase, where the vSAN dSwitch network appears. The thing is, for years, this has always been the case, but I still ended up with the desired configuration — that is, using a standard vSwitch (vSwitch0).

If anyone can point me in the right direction, I’d really appreciate it.
