I have the same problem on OpenSuse 15.6, KDE plasma. Workstation essentially renders my linux host unusable each time I use it -- repeatedly and often, because I normally cut-paste a lot between guest and host. With the guest running in "full screen mode" in a host virtual desktop, the workflow used to be: (a) in the guest I move the mouse to the screen top, (b) the vmware menu/control bar appears, (c) with the mouse over the bar a host keyboard shortcut (Ctrl-F1 for me) switches to another virtual desktop, (d) when done there the I Ctrl-F2 back to the full-screen guest. This normally takes splits of a second -- but is entirely broken by Workstation 17.6.2 because the workstation (once entered) kills the keyboard shortcuts on the host which will be painfully noticed when I want to leave the guest. In fact, I can't even just leave, because I can't Ctrl-F1 to my other virtual desktop when hovering the mouse over the screen-edge menu bar, I spent an hour on this and found that: (a) the host's Ctrl key is (among the keys that are) reprogrammed by Workstation, (b) host keyboard functionality can be restored with the "setxkbmap" command. However, the host shortcuts are broken again once I return to the guest. So Workstation essentially brakes the system ...
