Hi.

VMWare Windows 11 22H4 Home, VMWare Workstation Pro 17.6.2 and Ubuntu Desktop 24.04.2 LTS

The host has 8gb RAM and 512mb of SSD storage. It has 12 cores running at 3.4GHz. The guest was allocated 4gb of RAM and 8 cores. (We tried various confnigurations and did not have any luck.)

I don't know if thie is an Ubuntu or a VMWare issue. I am cross-posting in LaunchPad for Ubuntu.

I am having difficulties running Ubuntu in a VMWare guest. The keyboard response is very erratic. Sometimes the echoing of characters is 3 to 8 seconds delayed. Sometimes a key pressed for a short period of time echos repeatedly until the end of line is reached. Sometimes echoing stops altogether. Sometimes the mouse cursor is missing and non responsive. (The last two points may be related to keyboard/mouse capture, but I am not certain.)

I have spent several days working on this, including support from Windows CoPilot. We have looked at the VM configuration and tried everything we could think of. We looked at the Ubuntu kernel, checking CPU and Disc utilization. No luck on any front. We even adjusted the keyboard typeamatic parameters on both the host and the guest to no avail.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to hearing from you.
