Migrate Hosts in Cluster from one vCenter to other without dissolving Cluster

Hi everyone,

I have two hosts running in a cluster managed by a vCenter Server 7.0.3. Due to problems with the upgrade process, I will have to set up a new vCenter server running 8.0. After shutting down the old vCenter, I'm looking to connect both hosts to the new vCenter and reestablish the cluster along with it's settings and HA.

I would like to avoid dissolving the cluster, the VMs need to keep running. As far as I understand, I should be able to disable HA, shut down the old vCenter, and then be able to connect both hosts to my new vCenter and form the cluster again. Is this correct?

Is there anything I need to look out for? DRS is currently disabled, if that matters.

Hope this can help you resolve it: https://www.vinchin.com/vm-migration/migrate-vms-from-vcenter-to-another.html?s=dy9zudhydm

hi, disabling the HA is a good practice, no need to shut down the old vcenter: just add the hosts in the new vCenter, BUT you have to create a new cluster, you cannot move the whole cluster. In a 2 hosts cluster that won't be annoying

The VMs will keep running during the process.
