Migartion from standard switch to distributed switch

Hello Everyone,

I have a situation where I’m managing three ESXi 6.7 hosts with vCenter Server 7.0.3.

Each host has only one physical NIC (vmnic) connected and in use.

I want to migrate from a standard switch to a distributed switch, but since each host has only one physical network adapter, I'm concerned about losing connectivity during the process.

These servers are in production and located in another country, so I am managing them remotely.

Can someone please suggest the safest way to perform this migration without losing connectivity?

Thank you!

Hello,
It should work. When you add the host in the distributed switch you have the option in the wizard to migrate the vmkernel (esxi management network) and to migrate the virtual machine network as well. Performed a test in my home lab and it migrated the host and the running VM without downtime. (only one packet loss)
