Hello,

I'm new to VMWare, and have been connecting to the ESXI hosts simply by plugging in the local IP address into a web browser.  This greets me with the standard ESXI host login page, and I just put in the account credentials and I'm "in" to manage the VMs.

The problem with the browser interface is that there's some bugginess with the UI - like menus pop up in such a way that some items are offscreen and unselectable, such as "Ctrl+Alt+Del".

Someone mentioned to me that VMWare Remote Console would avoid those weird problems that I get in a normal web browser.

I downloaded and installed the VMRC per the instructions here:

Install the VMware Remote Console Application

Vmware remove preview
Install the VMware Remote Console Application
The VMware Remote Console (VMRC) is a standalone console application. VMRC enables you to connect to client devices and open virtual machine consoles on remote hosts.
View this on Vmware >

and I also found the "Getting Started" document:

https://www.vmware.com/pdf/desktop/vmware_remote_console.pdf

however it mentions nothing about connecting to local ESXI hosts.  The first few pages mention you  need to use vSphere Web Client, and only provide instructions for that.

However, I only have ESXI host capability right now.  Is it possible for me to use the VMWare Remote Console with that for now?  If so, can someone point me to an article or something on how to do that?  Or, does VMRC simply only work with vSphere Web Client, full stop?

Thank you!

Hello.
In my experience the problem is with some of the browsers like chrome, edge. I recommend using mozilla firefox ESR or Waterfox which are more stable for the graphical interfaces of both software and hardware products.
Once VMRC is installed on the PC, from the ESXi web interface in console option, choose launch remote console.
