How to get a git-cloned repository from Windows to a linux debian 10.10 Virtual Machine in WS PRO?

I installed VMware Tools with a .iso file that was supposed to make this work. I've tried a shared

directory and a USB drive. Should just be able to drag and drop my repository directory from

Windows to the linux file explorer in the VM, no?

Alternatively I can do what I want by setting up a shared folder. In the VM I can enable a shared folder which is on my Windows desktop. However, I can't see the folder in the VM with the explorer or the command line tools! How do I access the shared folder from the VM?

Drag and drop, when it works, it works best between desktops. Don't try it first between applications.

You can always use the Operating System networking, shared folders, called Samba in Linux.

Using access with USB devices - well, a matter of taste, but if you use several Guests it gets confusing. I also always want to have a track on the Host what I did on any of the Guests and then the direct USB device access is not good - never used it anyway.
