Hi,

I have a question regarding how to find vCenter server appliance.

Scenario

In a multi host environment with vCenter deployed and DRS enabled, if vCenter was to fail what options do we have to find out which ESXi host the vCenter Appliance is running on?  Bearing in mind vCenter is down and you are unable to connect to the vSphere Client.

Appreciate the advice.

Hi Lee,

  1. PowerShell Script.
  2. vROps - you can create a view or dashboard in vROps to determine which ESXi host the vCenter server is running on.

Hi,

I believe one of the best practices is to use host affinity rules. Weekly RVTools exports can help track the VCSA location too, but they’re not as reliable.
