I have created a Win11-VMware with VMware Workstation Pro 17.6.3.

I run the VM with either the Player or the Workstation - both version 17.6.3.

Now I want to get the latest VMware tools - but I cant figure out how to get them and install them.

How is that done?

Did you read the tutorial/wiki here: https://knowledge.broadcom.com/external/article/315363/how-to-install-vmware-tools.html ?

Note: After you click 'install vmware tools', just wait until something pops up -- because it's retrieving/downloading the setup files depending on your guest os. then follow the instruction.

I have looked at he suggested tutorials - but fail in the third step:

"go to virtual machine menu, then click VMGuest Install/Upgrade VMware Tools, and click OK"

I don't know about "VMware vSphere VM" - I use "Workstation Pro 17" or "VMware Workstation 17 Player" - and I don't know which menu this is referring to?

For VMware Workstation, use the menu item VM > Install VMware Tools. This will mount a disk image to the virtual machine as a virtual CD-ROM device. You should get a prompt in the VM from Windows autoplay once the image has been mounted to the VM.

If you don't get the Autoplay notification, simply use Windows File Explorer in the VM to open the CD drive, and execute the VMware Tools setup program setup.exe (if setup64.exe is there, use that). The VMware Tools installation setup wizard will then start.

The latest VMware Tools can be found in the free downloads section of the Broadcom support portal. VMware Tools is considered a free download, and it's accessed using a similar procedure to that used for VMware Workstation. Simply select "VMware Tools" instead of "VMware Workstation Pro" when presented with the list of free products to download.

Technogeezer - thanks.

I don't know how I missed this when I searched.... but now it works as I recalled it from last time.
