Has anyone figured out how to make sure you get all security fixes from Broadcom/VMWare

I use Fusion regularly to run various linux systems. Since Broadcom I see that VMWare can't find the update server. How and where do i get updates for security fixes - or is that not  a thing now that Broadcom runs the show. I also suggest you add a note in the Fusion New Users guide from Technogeezer.  Should I move off of Fusion? Has anyone gotten any information on longer range plans for Fusion? I have dealt with Broadcom before and am unimpressed with their business model. If VMware is going to go bye-bye I can migrate to Docker or Parallels.

For the time being I suggest:

  • Monitor this forum to see if others have found the announcement of a new release. I for one will post here as soon as I get any indication of a new Fusion release.
  • Monitor the Fusion release notices found at https://techdocs.broadcom.com/us/en/vmware-cis/desktop-hypervisors/fusion-pro/13-0/release-notes.html
  • Watch for any indication of a VMware security notification for any of their products. Many times their hypervisor products or VMware Tools share vulnerabilities.

I agree this situation is far from ideal (and I’m saying that kindly). I have made the suggestion through the moderator back-channels that Broadcom really needs to provide a better mechanism to let users know of new releases for the very reason that you have noted. Whether they take my suggestion is anyone’s guess.
