A Broadcom employee answered that this issue is being tracked internally on a bug report, and will be fixed soon ... but how will the community be notified of the fix, and do we need to wait until there is a fix?  I depend on my Fusion/Quicken set-up daily for managing my finances. Here is the issue there I get when login into Fusion.

This virtual machine might have been moved or copied.

In order to configure certain management and networking features, VMware Fusion needs to know if this virtual machine was moved or copied.

If you don't know, answer "I Copied It"

If past experience is any indication

  • Broadcom does not comment on when any updates will be released and what content will be in a release.
  • Broadcom does not seem to release “hot fixes” or “patches” for Fusion.

We will just have to wait for the next release and see if the issue is really fixed.

As far as being notified (again if past actions are any indication) we may have to rely on the release notes of the new version to see what fixes are contained in that new release. Because of recent actions by Broadcom, Fusion no longer warns of the existence of a new version or checking for a new version from within the product. We don’t know if Broadcom will make any public announcenent on a new Fusion release. For the time being all I can recommend is to watch here to see if there’s a new release (I’m personally keeping my eye for any new release notes).

In the mean time, answer that question with “I moved it”, not “I copied it”.
