  • 1.  Window does not scale properly with HiDPI in Wayland environment

Hi, this is a bug that I've faced for a while that pretty greatly affects the useability of Workstation.

This is a screenshot of what it "should" look like, vs what I see. My laptop has a 4k screen, which I use comfortably at 260% zoom. Thankfully, it's 2024 and most things either work out of the box (natively Wayland), or they work well enough with XWayland that they can scale themselves. When apps behave inappropriately in Windows, I'm totally stranded; thankfully, in KDE, I can move windows at-will by holding down the meta key and dragging applications to wherever I would like them to be, which allows me access to everything without being able to see it all at once.  However, this is incredibly inconvenient. Thankfully, VM windows still scale correctly so they are 100% usable, but all controls are still out of whack.

Does anyone know of a workaround, or could someone report this to wherever it should be reported?

    Gentoo Linux (~x64)

    KDE 6.2.4

    Qt 6.8.1

    Wayland 1.23.1

    XWayland 24.1.4

    Thanks,

    Luke

This a known issue with Xwayland. The solution depends your Desktop Environment. Try Googling "Xwayland KDE hidpi" or similar. You may also have better luck using 200% scaling as integer scaling is usually better supported than fractional.
