Awesome, that’s what I was thinking. Thanks!

vSAN 7.x releases require a different license key than vSAN 8.x releases. In order to license a 7.x deployment, you will need to downgrade 30 TiBs of your vSAN 8.x license key to a vSAN 7.x license key that you can then use in your 7.x deployment. The license key downgrade can be performed on Broadcom support portal.

Subject: vSAN Licensing downgrade required for older ESXi versions?
We have 3 separate vSAN clusters that we are upgrading to the latest release however one of the clusters hardware will only support up to version 7 of ESXi. I have already downgraded the amount of cores that I require for this cluster on the vSphere license but I am not sure what I need to do with the vSAN license. When we purchased the VCF licenses, we were allocated enough cover all three clusters with the idea that they would all be running the same version. It wasn't until after the fact that we found out one site would not support v8.
We are allocated 288 TiB of vSAN storage on our main license and the specific cluster in question only has about 30 TiB (29.11 to be exact). Do I need to take 30 TiB of the vSAN license out of the main one and downgrade it to vSAN 7? Or will the ESXi 7 hosts be able to use the vSAN 8 license but just not the features?
