Hello!!!
I just wanted to find our if anyone knows if VMware has an official stance on the backing up of the entire vSAN datastore in the event of corruption or a failure of some sort or is the built-in redundancy enough protection? Should we implement a backup solution to backup all the vm's running on our vSAN datastores? We currently don't use stretched clustering.
thanks
You need to adopt some third-party backup like veeam / commvault or similar backup software.
Great thanks!!! We do have Veeam in place however we are just doing data backups. I'm trying to get an idea about entire vm backups. I believe that we should be backing up the entire vm in our production site. Which is what I want to take to our management.
With ANY storage you should have a 3rd party solution to back up the data, not just with vSAN... with ALL of them, ALWAYS!
T hanks 100% agree. Will see if I can convince my managers.
