  • 1.  VMware Workstation Pro for Personal Use (For Linux) 17.0.0 showing 30 days expiration

    Hello everyone,

I'm trying to activate VMware Workstation 17.0.0 for personal use on my Linux server.

I need to install version 17.0.0 because my server can't run version 17.5.0 due to the processors not supporting the XSAVE instruction.

The problem is that after installation, there is no option to choose "personal use"; only the 30-day trial with expiration is available:

Here are some details to consider:

    • If I install version 17.5.2, I can see and select the "personal use" option, but I cannot run VMware machines due to the XSAVE issue.
    • I've tried a fresh installation (using the vmware-installer -u command and deleting all files in /etc/vmware) without success.

Could you please help me resolve this issue?

    Thank you!

Personal Use for VMware Workstation Pro has been introduced with version 17.5.
I doubt (not sure) that this will be back-ported to version 17.0, where VMware WS Player was the product that offered personal use rights.

    Hi André,
Thank you very much for your reply and the useful information.

It seems strange that Broadcom includes the download of release 17.0.0 under the section 'VMware Workstation Pro 17.0 for Personal Use (Linux)'

    I don't know if I'm missing something ....
