I am trying to figure out if VMware Data Recovery is available with Enterprise licensing.

If you check the VDR page is says it is only available in Enterprise Plus, Advanced, and Essentials Plus Edition.

    http://www.vmware.com/products/data-recovery/

But if you check the Compare page is shows VDR is available in Advanced and Enterprise.

Yes, VDR is also included in the vSphere Enterprise Edition.

It is avialable in Enterprise. It may not be listed as the Enterprise Edition is being phased out. It was originally scheduled to be pulled by end of 2009. It has been granted a stay for an indefinite amount of time (I am guessing it will be gone by the end of 2010, but it's anybody's guess).

    Brennan -

Data Recovery is available as a separate download from the vSphere ESX(i) and vCenter Server downloads. The download for Data Recovery will include an OVF-formatted appliance, a vCenter Plugin, and a File System Restore component. There is a simple install guide, but basically, install the vCenter Plugin on your client machine, import the OVF, use Plugin to configure Data Recovery appliance.

Let me know if you get stuck - I can give you a bit more guidance if you have a specific problem.

make sure you fully understand its' backup and recovery capabilities before making any final decesions.

it is not currently able to perform application aware backups of windows guest os's, i.e. SQL, Exchange, AD. you will be able to backup the VM's and perhaps even File lvl sync. but recovery of exchange and AD may fail from a VDR snapshot of those servers.
