VMware Workstation 17.6.1 and 17.6.2 are consistently destroying virtual machines on my Windows 11 hosts.
The reproducer is:
- Make a snapshot.
- Start the virtual machine.
- Revert to a snapshot while the virtual machine is running.
- Go back to step #2.
After a few dozen cycles of doing this, one or more of the vmdk files in the snapshot are randomly deleted. The data loss happens often enough that users can observe the failure without scripting the restore-and-restart loop.
