  • 1.  USB host/guest plug-in action not saved

    Posted Jun 03, 2025 10:48 AM

I've noticed in Fusion 13.6.3 that the plug-in action for USB devices (Ask, connect to host, connect to guest) are not saved. It doesn't matter if I make changes to these settings whilst the guest is running or shutdown, they don't persist. Every time I connect a device, I have to make the choice which is particularly annoying if they are devices that I always want to connect to the host, without being prompted.

Looks like a bug to me. Does it with every type of USB device that I own so it's not specific to a particular item or type of item of hardware.

Anyone know if there is a workaround. Perhaps something that can be manually edited in a configuration file somewhere?

I (and others here) have seen that the plug-in actions don't seem to be able to persist. This hasn't been just a 13.6.3 behavior -- I've seen this in prior releases as well.

Not sure if Broadcom is aware of this - but let's see if we can get some attention on this. @Julia Klaus - can you ping the product manager and see if they've seen anything like this?

This issue has been fixed recently and would be available in the next upcoming Fusion/WS release.

    Thanks

I've just installed 13.6.4 and I can report this is not fully fixed. When the USB arbitrator detects a new device and displays a pop-up to ask for directions, there is a checkbox that can be selected to "not ask again" which to me implies that my selection should be saved. However, if I go into the USB Settings page for any running VM, the option has not been saved, and the "ask what to do" setting prevails.

However, if I then instruct that particular VM as to what to do via the USB settings page, the configuration does, mercifully, appear to now be persisted.
